Bellflower Medical Center

For the Second Consecutive Year BMC Captures
the Taste Buds of the Bellflower Gourmet

BELLFLOWER BULLETIN

The aroma of fine chili filled the air in downtown Bellflower during its 17th Annual Chili Cook-Off held on April 28th. The well-participated and well-attended family fun affair brought live entertainment, good food, product showcase and services from local businesses and organizations, and more fun to the entire community.

BACK-TO-BACK Chili Champ — Bellflower Medical Center’s Chico Pelayo, left, receives the Bellflower’s Best Chili Award from Shawn Parr, one of Southern California’s most beloved DJ, during Bellflower’s 17th Annual Chili Cook-Off street fest held on April 28th. Chico is well known for his ability to cook fine foods and he’s been BMC’s chef for over 10 years.

Three winners of the annual chili competition were chosen from eight teams after hours of preparation and slow cooking on that sunny festive day. The best chili award was given to Bellflower Medical Center; second place: Kleven family; and third place: Knight of Columbus. And as part of the City’s Golden Anniversary, the Chamber of Commerce also gave recognition to the Knights of Columbus for its best decorated “Fabulous Fifty” booth.

A lively sing-and-dance performance of the talented Bellflower Ensemble, left, elicits great delight from the crowd.

The live musical performance and entertainment presented by Dave Storm & Thundercreek, the Bellflower Unified School District Ensemble, and Shaw Parr of Go Country 105FM, lent a festive and ecstatic atmosphere to the street fest. The new Miss Bellflower and her court were also present to provide community service and also judged the best chili and best decorated booth during the event.
